Owatonna is second in the Class 5A, conference 3 standings. Conferences in trap shooting are determined on number of shooters and are not based on school enrollment or geography. Other teams in the conference include Alden-Conger, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, Crookston, Mora and Spring Lake Park. Competitions are held on virtual basis with scores each week entered online and compared to other teams in the conference.

Owatonna’s top individuals are Brock Hanson and Weston Wilson, who are tied for third in the conference with a 23 average per round. Parker Aase is tied for 11th with 21.75. The Huskies’ top female shooters are Ellie Youngquist and Tea Boerner. This is Owatonna’s first year of sponsoring a trap shooting team.

More than 11,000 shooters are registered for Minnesota’s spring trap shooting season. An all-comers state tournament will be held in June in Alexandria. The top teams will be invited to the Minnesota State High School League state tournament June 24 at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake.
