12-21-20 - Triple A Award Nominees

Congratulations to our Triple A Award nominees, Sydney Hunst and Lane Versteeg.  Details are below.

12-17-20 Activities Update

With the recent decision by Governor Walz to allow winter activities to begin on Monday January 4th, a local decision by the school district has approved Owatonna High School to begin all in-person practices, try-outs, and/or team sessions beginning on Monday January 4th.  All students must be registered before they can participate in any activities.

If you have not already registered for winter activities and are in need of assistance, please contact the activities office.  It is important that you register by 4:00 pm on Dec. 29 as our office will be closed Dec. 24-27 and Dec. 30-Jan. 3.  A reminder that sports physicals are required every 3 years.  If the system does not let you register it is likely because you do not have a valid physical on file, therefore, can not register for activities until this is completed and returned to our office via email.  Registration is currently open for all winter activities at  Directions on how to create an account and register are located on this site as well.  Please contact the activities office at if you have any questions and to return your sports physical.

Please watch for a separate email from OMS next Wednesday regarding Kids First basketball and wrestling.

Congratulations Lane Versteeg on receiving the Semper Fidelis All-American Award

Registration is now open for girls basketball and gymnastics.

Registration is now open for winter cheerleading (grades 7-12), girls hockey (grades 8-12), boys swim & dive (grades 7-12) and wrestling (grades 9-12).

A reminder that sports physicals are required every 3 years in order to participate in sports.  Athletes are not able to register for sports until the sports physicals are on file.  Please contact the activities office if you have any questions.

Registration is now open for boys hockey and boys basketball.

Registration is now open for Dance Team, Knowledge Bowl, Mock Trial, Robotics and Speech.

Winter Activity Update

PRACTICE dates will begin for winter activities on the dates listed below.  Registration will not open for a while yet.  Please check this site in a couple weeks for more details on when registration will open.

Dance - Nov. 9

Boys Hockey and Boys Basketball - Nov. 23

Girls Hockey, Wrestling, Boys Swim & Dive - Nov. 30

Gymnastics and Girls Basketball - Dec. 7

The Minnesota State High School League has reinstated football and volleyball for the fall season.  Practice will begin Monday, Sept. 28 for both activities.  Those interested in participating must register for the activity by Friday, Sept. 25, as registration and payment is required before attending the first season practice on Sept. 28.  For those that registered for the “Volleyball Practice” and “Football Practice” fall practice seasons, please make sure you go back into your account and register again for “Volleyball” or “Football” as registering for the practice activity that started this month will not allow you to participate in the regular season.  If you are currently registered for another fall sport, you are eligible to participate in volleyball or football but please contact the activity office prior to registering.

Registration Reminder

Remember that after you create your new PARENT USER ACCOUNT, you should have received an email containing a link to confirm your account.  Please make sure you open this email and confirm your PARENT USER ACCOUNT.  If you do not, your login credentials will expire in 30 days.  Please check your junk/trash/spam folders in case the email went there.  An example of the email is below:

FALL REGISTRATON - Fall sports are underway (boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country, girls tennis and girls swimming).  Some of our other sports are able to offer fall practice sessions.  They are open on our new registration site.  Please watch the registration site as other sports will be opening in the upcoming weeks.

FALL ACTIVITIES UPDATE - We are working to get fall registration open after yesterday's announcement from MSHSL.  Thank you for your patience and continue to check back today (Aug. 5).

FALL ACTIVITIES REGISTRATION UPDATE - The governor gave his announcement today but we are also waiting until MSHSL makes an announcement next week about fall activities.  We are tentatively postponing fall registration until Wednesday, August 5.  Please continue to check this site for additional updates.

RESERVED FOOTBALL SEATING - yet to be determined.  Will update as we have more information.

The Middle School/Kids First activities will follow the below timelines with the High School.

REGISTRATION - Registration for fall activities will begin August 3 with a new registration format called Affinety as we are no longer using Fee Pay.  The link to register can be found here.  Instructions on how to create a parent user account login AND how to register your child for an activity are included on the site and also in the tab above titled Handbook & Forms.

SPORTS PHYSICALS - Free sports physicals will be offered at the Owatonna Clinic but APPOINTMENTS ARE REQUIRED.  Due to social distancing, no walk ins will be allowed.  The dates for the physicals will be August 3-6, 5:30-8:00 at the Owatonna Clinic and they are 15 minute time slots.  All details are on Sign Up Genius.  Please read through the instructions on Sign Up Genius carefully.  The link to sign up for a time slot can be found here.

Remember that sports physicals need to be updated every 3 years and students cannot register for an activity unless the physical is current for the entire sport/activity season.  Please note that well child physicals do NOT clear your child for sports so be sure to ask for a 2020-2021 SPORTS physical.

There are several places in Owatonna that will do sports physicals.  The ones that we are aware of are Compcare, Cedar Chiropractic, Bridges Chiropractic Health Clinic (formerly Bridge Street Chiropractic) and Balanced Healthcare (formerly McGregor Chiropractic).  These are options in addition to the Owatonna Clinic.
