OHS Baseball Salt Fundraiser

As far as fundraisers go, this is one of the easiest.  Almost all households have a water softener that requires salt.  The cost per bag is a little higher than people typically pay but we deliver the salt directly to their house and even down to their basement courtesy of an Owatonna Baseball player.

Following are things to keep in mind when selling salt:

  • The requirement is that all players sell a minimum of 120 bags.  By selling 120 bags, you will receive a $30 reimbursement on your player package.   Once you reach 135 bags, you will earn a raffle ticket to win baseball related prizes. The incentive plan has been provided as a link to our website.

  • All players will deliver their own salt once again this year.  We have two days to complete your deliveries on Friday, May 10th and Saturday, May 11th.

  • When approaching people about buying salt, make sure you introduce yourself by name, indicate you represent Owatonna Baseball and smile.  Try to sell them a full year’s supply.

  • To make sure delivery goes as smoothly as possible, make sure you capture all the information on the salt sales entry form including the person’s full address (please make sure it is correct as well as NW, NE, SW, and SE) and phone #.  90-95% of the sales are to return customers, which is why this fundraiser has been so successful.

Collect the correct amount money at point of sale if possible.  A cheat sheet is attached that will help you determine the correct amount to charge for the # of bags of salt sold.

  • There is a minimum order of 3 bags.  We accept monetary donations if someone doesn’t want salt.

  • You will be required to enter your sales electronically by Thursday, March 14.   An email with instructions on how to enter your sales will be sent to all parents.  It is imperative that addresses are correct.

  • For large or commercial sales of over 50 bags, we may be able to provide a discount if needed to get the sale.  Please contact Bill Theis and he will assist you.

Salt Sale Documents (See Below)

All players will receive a packet from Coach Cummins that includes all the forms below.  If the packet is lost or if you want to get a head start - all documents can be printed.

In addition, players in grades 10 - 12 will receive a spreadsheet with their last year's sales.  Players in grade 9 will receive a spreadsheet that contains sales from the previous year's seniors.

Salt Sale Order Form - all players can use this to document their orders.  Bill Theis will email a spreadsheet to electronically capture all orders.  This spreadsheet is what will be emailed back to Bill with your entire salt order by mid-March.

Salt Sale Flyer - this is a great document that lists the type of salt along with the cost.

Salt Sale Incentive Plan - this document explains the incentive program for the current year.

Salt Sale Calculator - a document that allows players to calculate the total for a sale very quickly.

Torey's Brunch Fundraiser - Sunday, April 14

OHS Baseball will once again be selling Brunch Tickets that will be hosted at Torey's on Sunday, April 14th.  This has been a great event through the years that provides a very nice brunch for friends and families of Owatonna Baseball.  The meal typically provides eggs, french toast, sausage, fruit, and coffee.  Tickets can be purchased from any player or coach starting in the middle of February.  Contact Tate Cummins at owatonnabaseball@live.com if you have a request.

Each player is asked to sell 10 tickets at $8 each.  Tickets will be distributed at the Parent/Player/Coach meeting.  A check for $100 will be collected at that time.  Families then can sell or distribute the tickets how they wish.
