The Owatonna Boys Track & Field Team finished in 5th place at the Big 9 Conference meet on Thursday, May 25. The Huskies were led by Senior Darik Elstad and Junior Dalton Kubista.
Elstad paced the team with a Big Championship in the Shot Put (53' 7") and a 3rd Place in the Discus (143' 3"). The Huskies' only other first place finish came from Kubista, who won the Triple Jump with a distance of 43' 6 1/4".
The Huskies also placed 2nd in the 4 x 400m (J. Dowhaniuk, B. Schmidt, Z Barrett, O. Koslsoky). Owatonna had multiple 3rd place finishes including Andy Jensen in the Shot Put, the 4 x 200m team (A. Raichle, B. Schmidt, D. Kubista, J. Wlliamson) and the 4 x 800m team (R. Stevenson, B. Ruiter, J. Rosaker, B. Kubat). The throwers strong meet performance also included Ethan Dekam's 4th place in the Shot Put.
Next up for the boys is the Section 1AA Track & Field Meet at Lakeville South High School on Thursday, June 1 and Saturday, June 3.
