The Owatonna Clay Target Team had a great 2018 Spring Trap Season, which began with a little team growth (up 27) to 70 athletes. A larger team resulted in a move from Class 5A up to Class 8A. Although it did not seem to phase the team. OCTT finished the Class 8 Conference 1 regular season in 2nd Place behind Hutchinson. The team had 5 girls finish in the Conference Top 25 Female- Ellie Youngquist, Téa Boerner, Brynn Butler, Kate VanReeth,  Hailey Fox, and 5 boys finished in the Conference Top 25 Male- Cody Bussert, David Schoenenmen, Scott Kingland, Thomas Earl, Trevor Otterson.

The Top 40 Varsity teams from all classes at the Championships, make it to the MSHSL Clay Target State Tournament. Team scores are made up of the top 5 individual scores per team. So, even though the Varsity ended the MN Class 8A Championships in 6th Place with 474/500, that same score was good for 37th place statewide (all classes). Therefore OCTT received an invitation to the 2018 MSHSL Clay Target Tournament on Friday, June 22 at the Minneapolis Gun Club in Prior Lake, MN. Not bad, qualifying for state in only the team's second season! This sets the bar of expectation very high moving forward.

Jon Klecker (98), Joe Edel (95), Josh Kiefer (95), Thomas Earl (93) and Joseph Earl (93) were the top scorers for OCTT at the MN Championships, and they would be the OCTT state tournament squad. Dylan Meier (92) and Weston Wilson (92) were tabbed as alternates.

The Varsity squad showed tremendous focus and competed very well. The team ended with a 471/500 and finished in 17th Place! Consistency in competition leads to success. Here is the breakdown of the team score: Jonathon Klecker (97), Joseph Earl (97), Thomas Earl (93), Josh Kiefer (93) and Joe Edel (91). Congratulations gentlemen!

It was a great season!  OCTT excelled during the regular season as team, and performed awesomely in the post season! Bring on 2019!
